As a side note, one of the plants NASA studied is an excellent humidifier. One six foot Areca Palm will put a quart of water into the air in a day. Dry winter air often contributes to sinus nfections and sore throats. Wouldn't it be nice to increase your home's humidity without having to fuss with a mechanical humidifier?

If you want to make the gate taller, you can certainly do so. To offer some level of protection against animals that are taller. How to : First, determine how tall you wish to make your removable gate(s). For this project, I built a gate that was 4-foot wide by 1-foot high. You may need a taller gate depending on the existing height of your raised bed and/or the type of critters you're trying to keep out. From the two 1" x 2" x 8' furring strips, cut out two pieces that are 4-feet long and two pieces that are 1-foot long. After pre-drilling the screw holes, screw the four pieces together. Rooting roses from cuttings in a mini greenhouse

You'll need : A plastic half-gallon jug, A 2-liter soda bottle, A sharp knife, Rooting hormone , Pruners we will use the bottom of the milk jug as a pot, and the top of the soda bottle as a top to create a mini greenhouse for your cutting. First use the knife to cut holes in the bottom of the milk jug for drainage. Then fill the jug to within an inch of the rim with potting mix , water thoroughly, and let it drain. Take a stem with 5 or 6 leaflets. Cut the bottom of the stem below the last leaflet, at a 45 degree angle toward the back of the bud like this. Use the knife to lightly score the bottom of the cutting on two or three sides. Dip your cutting into rooting hormone , and shake off any excess. Place the cutting in the hole about 2 inches deep.
